Women’s Interfaith Network Statement – 5th August 2024
Women’s Interfaith Network (WIN) is shocked and horrified by the mindless brutality and outpouring of racism and bigotry that we have seen in many cities and towns across the country in the past week.
Nothing can justify the violence and hatred perpetrated by the far-right against the Muslim community and people from minoritised ethnic backgrounds. We recognise this as part of a wider epidemic of male violence that devastatingly took the lives of three children in Southport and is now targeting our communities, including some of the most vulnerable in our society who have come to the UK to find refuge.
Our deepest sympathies go out to the families mourning in Southport and all those affected. WIN stands against those seeking to divide us and will continue our work of bringing communities together in mutual respect and friendship with renewed strength.
