BLOG: Launching Our Interfaith Shared Meal Project in Collaboration with Unfold
Last week we celebrated the launch event of our Interfaith Shared Meals in partnership with Westminster-based charity Unfold, bringing together asylum-seeking women from their support groups with our members from across London’s faith communities. Our attendees enjoyed over 15 different dishes from different regional cuisines, with delicious food cooked by Unfold’s members on site and supplemented by special home-cooked dishes from WIN’s members.
As well as an incredible meal, WIN and Unfold members took part in a Laughter Yoga session, led by Gants Hill WIN Chair Dr. Sudarshan Kapur OBE, with drawing, playdough and other activities on offer for the children. This special event was a real example of cross-cultural and interfaith dialogue in action, with women of a wide-range of nationalities from Hindu, Christian, Muslim and Jewish traditions alongside those of no faith, coming together to share recipes, laughter and make new connections. We look forward to continuing to grow and develop this exciting collaboration as part of our core mission of bringing women together.
